We will focus on both the novice and the experienced horticulturalist as any community garden should. Hopefully you will find it helpful, uplifting, and will at times put a smile on your face. Contributions are gratefully accepted and duly credited. Please consider this OUR garden with hopes of making this one of the best cybergardens on the WWW. Images are incorporated of some of the gardening I have accomplished in my area where the temperature can dip to -40 Farenheit/Celsius in the winter which can last up to 6 months. We will not focus on anything which cannot overwinter in these temperature, which is the main reason why so many would-be gardeners give up. You can also incorporate most of the ideas for patio, veranda, porch, and apartment spaces.

of blossoms, bracken, and furry mosses

I'm no good at sketching mountains

    but walking
    up
    around
    down

    finding hidden secrets
    in the crags filled with

    blossoms
    bracken
    and furry mosses
    delight me

I'm no good at sketching tombstone mountains

    perhaps they are reminders
    of those who have died
    for humanity
    since thought began

    and the
    blossoms
    bracken
    and furry mosses

    are to honor them

    Goodbye England's Rose

    peace.gif

Why is it that whenever we need to really express ourselves of love or sadness we do it with flowers. Flowers at the grave, the wedding, the birth, the Bar Mitzvah, the Baptism, the coronation, my divorce. And certain plants will convey certain freudian meanings, like a single rose for love, a white lily for a funeral, daisies for friendship. Deep in our consciousness there lies a kinship with plants, they live and die just as we do, albeit much faster (the annuals) or much slower (Oaks), and perhaps hold the key to teaching us about life. Whatever it is, we as a people cannot do without them, although some of us try.

    Legal Stuff

I heard a long time ago that if you wanted to grow your own dope you should plant a man. I am sure that some ladies would agree. Do they know something I don't?

    and on that note..

    Planting
    Your Spouse

    amarylis

Speaking of planting other items in a garden, I have traditionally planted my pets after their demise. I am not being gruesome here, for memories are made of these. My previous two dogs lived for 17 years and passed naturally, so I planted them and overtop planted a bush or shrub. When I tend my garden it reminds me of my babies. I have a shamrock which was passed on to me after my nephew's death in 1976 which blooms year after year in my window. I have plants which remind me of my kids, graduations, deaths, divorces, weddings, (not in that order hehehe) etc. These are as important as photographs, and are living reminders. After all, life goes on.

    Going Too Far

One of my friends got a little muddled on an anniversary and thought he would give the ultimate gift having to do with plants.. a sack of manure to his wife. He flatly stated that she could now grow her own roses to rival the ones he could have purchased for 60 bucks a dozen. He spent S7.95 on the steer manure with enough left over for a pizza and a couple of cases of beer. (They are not married anymore, she got the house, the car, the garden and the manure, he got the beer).
